Stand-up Ian Harvie Kickstarts Campaign To Fund Comedy Special

Ian Harvie, the only openly transgendered FTM stand-up comic in the country, is trying to get what would be the first comedy special by a trans-person made — and he needs your help.

Harvie — who’s opened for Margaret Cho for years, has been on OutLaugh on Logo, and was featured in Just Out earlier this year as part of the Laughs Without Liquor tour — is going the Kickstarter route to raise funds, but time is running short. You can help his cause by clicking here, and as an added incentive, those who pony up $500 or more will get admission to a private show via Skype (!) with Cho and Harvie.

Harvie’s debut comedy special, “Super Hero,” is slated for filming January 7, 2012 in his hometown of Portland, Maine.
