Republicans in New Hampshire Appear in TV Ad Asking Lawmakers Not to Repeal Gay Marriage

A new TV ad produced by the New Hampshire group Standing Up for New Hampshire Families includes several Republicans calling on lawmakers not to repeal New Hampshire’s 2-year-old gay marriage law. The 30-second ad was released Wednesday.

Lawmakers are expected to consider House bill 437, which would repeal the law, when they reconvene on January 4. The issue was already brought to considerable spotlight earlier this month during Mitt Romney’s campaign stop in Manchester, where he was confronted by a gay Vietnam veteran at a diner, and pressed on his stance for repeal of the gay marriage law. The issue is poised to be an important sticking point during New Hampshire’s presidential primary, which takes place the same week the Legislature returns.
